Marcos: there is some information about which setting PT's work in and it is available from the APTA. You may want to call them 1+800 999 APTA. You may want to ask the APTA what the mix is of the different specialties or sections as the APTA calls it. That is, how many members belong to the Orthopedic section, Neuro section, Peds, Cardio, Geriatrics. I am guessing it is in the following order of greatest number of PT's to least: Ortho, Neuro, Acute, Peds, Home Health, Cardio. Of course, there are sub-specialties too. for example Ortho could consist of Outpatient spine, post surgical, sports, etc. My only other suggestion would be to check with Medicare to see if they have a breakdown of what types of patients are seen the most by PT's.
