THREE-DAY SHORT COURSE 'HOW TO PRACTISE EVIDENCE-BASED CHILD HEALTH'

6-8 December 2000
20-22 June 2001

Short courses in evidence-based child health are run every 6 months at the
Centre for Evidence-Based Child Health, part of a national network of
centres for evidence-based practice, based at the Institute of Child Health.

The course aims to help practitioners become more efficient at using the
best available evidence in their clinical and policy decisions.

The course consists of plenary seminars, small group problem-solving &
appraisal sessions and practicals on literature searching. Key features
include multi-professional groups, a high tutor-student ratio and
opportunites for hands-on searching of scientific literature with tutor
support.

Who should come?

The concepts taught apply to all areas of health care but are illustrated
by clinical practice or policy relevant in child health. The course is
suitable for any health practitioner, but is particularly relevant for
paediatricians, GPs, health visitors, nurses, therapists, purchasers,
managers and researchers from consumer groups.  Previous experience in
using reseach evidence to inform decisions is an advantage but not essential.

Cost: £390 (December 2000)and £420 (June 2001)
