Having discovered by chance that an Eur-Lex search (in Legislation in Force) had missed some legislation published in the OJ 4 months ago, I queried this and have just received the following reply from the Eur-Lex helpdesk: "That is true we have had important delay concerning the Celex deliveries. The technicians are trying to catch up this delay. The Eur-Lex developpers have discovered differences between Eur-Lex and Celex, and they are searching the origins of these problems." This answer may be imprecise as regards the number and type of the documents that are missing, and how long the problem has persisted, but at least I now know there is a problem, and can allow for it when searching on Eur-Lex. But users of Eur-Lex will find no warning whatsoever on the website itself. This failure of EUR-OP to warn website users about database deficiencies was an issue I raised here a few months ago. I felt then, and still do, that we need a campaign to get EUR-OP to improve its communication policy concerning technical problems with its databases. There was little response originally from Eurotalk members, but if anyone else would now like to support a campaign for better user information when things go wrong, I know that the EIA would be very happy to take up the cudgels (thank you, Catherine!).
