Senior/Programme Manager
The Special and Extension Programmes (SEP) of Central European University
develops and oversees international projects targeted at emerging
democracies for CEU and its sister organisations (Open Society Institute and
the National Soros Foundations). Projects are mainly concerned with Higher
Education Development at a variety of levels, though also include NGO and
other professional activities. SEP is made up of three units under the
supervision of a Dean: Summer University; the Curriculum Resource Centre;
and the Special and Extension Programmes Office itself. To date, SEP has
focused on programmes for Central, Southern and Eastern Europe and the
Former Soviet Union. Now SEP is expanding ('globalising') to encompass
emerging democracies in other parts of the world.

SEP is seeking a new staff member to assist the Dean in this globalisation
process. The appointment will be in the SEP Office at either the Programme
Manager or Senior Programme Manager level depending on the successful
candidate. The main function will be to develop the university's network and
extension programmes in our newly targeted regions (South East Asia and
parts of the Middle East, and potentially Southern Africa, Latin America).
Duties include project development, grant proposal and budget writing,
reporting, liaison with project parties, project management, information
gathering and dissemination etc. If a Senior appointment is made, the
appointee will also manage the SEP Office itself.

The successful candidate will have a strong interest and experience in
Higher Education and/or NGO development. S/he will be highly energetic,
innovative, with strong managerial, communication and writing skills, and
fluent English. A Post-graduate degree and knowledge/experience of at least
one of the new regions is preferred (required at Senior level). More

Salary: $18,000 - $30,160 per annum (taxable at local rate)
