There was an excellent paper published in Injury
(Wyatt J et al) last year which clearly showed that mortality outcome in major
trauma patients improved with the seniority of A&E staff attending them.
This is one of the few pieces of good evidence on this and has proved to be a
very powerful persuasive tool to support increasing senior involvement in
A&E.
