Surely the host server which distributes the emails to all of us who subscribe to acad-ae-maed could scan them for known viruses. At least they could be nipped in the bud before being distributed globally, as opposed to us all having to mount increasing levels of defence (or worse repair the damage). Am I being too simplistic?

PS. I use Outlook (the full version, not outlook express) with Word as the email editor. I have not, as yet, detected any problems (with MacAffee Virus-shield, and regular use of the on-line MacAffee virus-scan to check the hard disk.)
