Dear List Members Lisa Lewis and Michael Jefferson do us a service by reminding us of the appropriateness of dispassionate debate on the Rudyard Kipling list. This prompts me to add a reminder that the basic feature of debate is that it concerns the subject under discussion, and not the discussants. While one may express appreciation of a good point, negative comments of any sort whatever about another discussant should be avoided.
