Reverting for a moment to a previous thread on the use of titles such as "Beatus" versus "Sanctus" etc. I've been reading some writings of the famous Monte Cassino forger Peter the Deacon. In several documents he consistently refers to St. Benedict as "sanctissimus", but to his disciple (and quondam prior) Maurus as "beatissimus". Of course both were considered saints in the order, so here these titles apparently are being used rather carefully to denote a sort of monastic hierarchy of holy fathers. jw ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
