Dear Colleagues,

Partly as a result of widening participation in higher education,
motivating students and engaging them in active learning is becoming
an issue for many lecturers and support staff. In order to assist
staff in addressing this issue, the National Subject Centre for
Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences is holding a one day
workshop on:

"Motivating and Engaging Students in Active Learning in our
Disciplines" Friday 15th September, University of Wales: Swansea

The event is open to all lecturers and support staff in geography,
earth and environmental sciences with an interest in enhancing their
students' learning experience. It will provide participants with the
opportunity to share ideas and discuss good practice in motivating
and engaging students in active learning.

This event is free of charge (including coffee and lunch), however,
participants will be required to meet their own travel and subsistence
expenses. Space is limited to 30 participants and places will be
filled on a first-come first-served basis.

Further details of the programme can be found on the Subject Centre
