Lectureship in Italian Migration Studies

Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed-term appointment
from 1 December 2000. The position is funded by the Fondazione
Cassamarca Unione Latini Nel Mondo. Further employment for two
years will be dependent on the success of the programme and the
Foundation providing additional funds beyond the initial 12
months.

The appointment is to be made jointly to the Departments of
Anthropology and History with the work to be shared equally
between the two groups. The appointee will therefore be required
to teach and develop units at all levels of the undergraduate
curriculum (including honours), to supervise honours and
postgraduate students, to undertake research and to participate,
where appropriate, in departmental administration. Applicants
must have a PhD in some aspect of Italian migration studies,
command of the Italian language, teaching experience in
anthropology, history or related fields and evidence of
collegiality and the ability to work between disciplines.
Preference will be given to applicants with research experience
on Italians in Australia or on comparable Italian immigrant
communities elsewhere. Applicants with teaching experience are
requested to submit a teaching portfolio as part of their
application.  Salary range: Lecturer Level B $49,887 - $59,243
p.a.
