I have received a letter from Dent saying they have 105 remaindered copies of the hardback of The Betrothed (published in 1997) which I co-edited with Matthew Reynolds. These are for sale at a price of 3 pounds per copy (10 per cent of the original price). This is considerably cheaper than the Everyman paperback of the same edition at 14.99 which will remain in print, and even than the cheaper Everyman paperback (7.99) of this edition which has not yet been published. For IS mailbase members who are not familiar with this edition, it is 710 pages long, contains a completely revised version of Archibald Colquhoun's 1951 translation, a revised version of the complete text of History of the Column of Infamy in Kenelm Foster's 1964 translation (long out of print), detailed notes, maps and a 30-page anthology of criticism on Manzoni, as well an an introduction, chronological chart on M's life and times, synopsis of the plot and note on the texts. Postage within the UK is 2 pounds for up to 10 copies, 5 pounds for 11-50 copies, 10 pounds for over 50. For overseas postage you need to contact LBS (see below) for a quotation based on order.
