Re: currency
a quick question for the francophones on the list.  I am describing the benefice of an archbishop in 13th century France.  Was it denominated in livres, pounds, lire, something else?  I lean to choice 1 but am hoping for a more educated basis for the decision. many thanks, sharon

Most of the documents I have seen on this sort of thing are calculated in solidi--which I suppose translates literally as sous, though that may be confusing to readers who think of sous as tiny little things.  Megan
