April 28 ~ Venerable Intoner

The Venerable Franciscan Priest Pedro Lopez, a native of Mexico City, where
he professed in the Convent of Our Father San Francisco, on May 17, 1600;
son of Juan Lopez and Maria Diaz.

Knowing the day of his death, he advised the Vicar Fray Sebastian de Gama to
sing the verse of Incarnatus, and Father Juan de Pedraza to sing Et Unam
Sanctam, etcetera. When asked who should intone, he replied, “God Our
Father has granted that I should intone.”

Came the hour, he advised they perform the Credo; and he intoned. At the
moment the Credo ended, joyously ended his life also, on the 28th of April
1630, in the Convent of Puebla, where he is interred.
