One other example that comes to mind are some U.S. aeronautical 
charts. These have the Visual Flight Rules (VRF) chart on one side 
and the Instumental Flight Rules (IFR) on the other. There are 2 
charts for the whole U.S. @ 1:2.3M. The VFR side looks similar to 
a topo map, the IFR side is very diagramatic.

One chart has Eastern IFR & Western VFR and the other Eastern 
VFR & Western IFR. This means the two can be pieced together to 
give all IFR or all VFR.

Excuse any errors in the terms - I've just moved office & my 
example is in a box somewhere.... It is also quite old - mid 60's? I 
don't know if it is still produced.
