CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The Center for Philosophical and Cultural Studies "Topos" (Belarus, Minsk)
is  interested in cooperation with researchers from different regions of the
world.

The Center has been successful in organising three International
philosophical conferences: "Heidegger and Philosophy of the 20th Century"
(1996), "From Self to the Other: the Problems of Social Ontology" (1997),
"Understanding and Existence" (1998). The proceedings of these conferences
have been published.

As a result of Center's efforts two following books have been published:
"From Self to the Other: Translations on the Problem of Intersubjectivity,
Communication, Dialogue" (Minsk, 1997) and B. Waldenfels, "Motive of the
Strange" (Minsk, 1998).

The "Topos" Center has the phenomenological and hermeneutic profile and the
general themes of our research are the intersubjectivity, communication and
dialogue. At the Center, some scholars are engaged in research of the
problems of Semiology, Visual Studies,  Postmodern Philosophy and Philosophy
of Pragmatism.

Since this year the "Topos" Center publishes a journal for philosophical and
cultural studies. The editors welcome submissions of articles, notes,
comments, essays, reviews in Russian, Belarusian, English, German or French.
Next two issues (N 3 and N 4) will be devoted to the following topics:

1) The Phenomenon of the Other as a Central Problem of Modern Thought;
2) The problem of Self-Identification in Philosophy and Psychology;
3) Topography of Thought: What is a "National" Philosophy?
4) Philosophical Terminology: Interpretation, Etymology and Translation of
the Key-Terms in Philosophical Sciences;
5) Phenomenological Interpretations of the Classic Philosophy.

Deadline for the issue N3 - 15.05.2000, for the issue N4 - 15.08.2000.
