The Trust for the Americas, a non-profit organization affiliated with the 
Organization of American States, in partnership with the Inter-American 
Institute on Disability (IID), received awards from the World Bank's infoDev 
and Development Marketplace for its Net Corps Americas project "I.T.: 
Employment for People with Disabilities." (info: 
www.developmentmarketplace.org)

This project will send high-tech volunteers to Central America to train 
people with disabilities to use the new information technologies and it is 
the first step by The Trust for the Americas to implement the Inter-American 
Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Persons 
with Disabilities, adopted by the OAS at its General Assembly in 1999.

POSITION AVAILABLE FOR PROGRAM ASSOCIATE
______________________________________________

The Trust for the Americas, a foundation affiliated with the Organization of 
American States, seeks a Program Associate to assist with the implementation 
of Net Corps Americas for people with disabilities.  This program sends 
hi-tech volunteers to Central America to train people with disabilities to 
use the new information and communication technologies.  People with 
disabilities are encouraged to apply. This full-time position is open 
immediately to citizens of the U.S, Canada, and other OAS member states in 
Latin America and the Caribbean. Salary range: $25,000-$+30,000 depending on 
experience.

The program associate would be reporting directly to the program manager and 
working with other associates.  All program associates are expected to 
participate as full members of the team. 

DUTIES:
o   Participate in  program development and coordination
o   Organize volunteer deployments, including recruitment and logistics for 
training sessions
o   Supervise volunteers who are in the field including reading weekly reports
o   Maintain regular contact with host organizations
o   Maintain database of volunteers and host organizations
o   Assist with project reports and financial reports
o   Coordinate logistics for Advisory Board meetings
o   Coordinate development of website
o   Assist with fundraising
o   Some travel may be required

SKILLS:
o   Fluent in Spanish/English (written and oral)
o   Excellent communication and presentation skills
o   Knowledge/interest in disability issues
o   Strong organizational skills
o   Background knowledge of Central America
o   Experience/background in web design and maintenance; database creation 
and management a plus
o   Event planning experience a plus
