FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS GeoComputation 2000 23-25 August 2000 5th International Conference on GeoComputation School of Earth and Environmental Sciences University of Greenwich, Medway Campus Central Avenue, Chatham Maritime, Kent ME4 4TB UK Email: [log in to unmask] Further details and updates will be posted to: http://www.ashville.demon.co.uk/gc2000/index.htm Submission of abstracts is via an on-line form at: http://www.ashville.demon.co.uk/gc2000/submit.htm For email list or hot links to past conferences, proceedings and extended abstracts: http://www.ashville.demon.co.uk/geocomp/index.htm Timetable Abstract deadline: 20 March 2000 Author notification: 20 April 2000 Final papers due: 20 June 2000 Registration due: 20 July 2000 Papers are invited on all aspects of research within the broad field of geo-spatial computation. This conference series brings together numerous scientists from different areas of research, who are interested in using the latest computational tools and techniques, or who have implemented similar computation-based approaches under alternative scenarios. It represents a conscious attempt to move the research agenda back to scientific modelling and analysis, with or without being locked into GIS! The main aim of each annual meeting is to enrich geo-scientists with a powerful toolbox of fresh ideas and methods that will permit them to examine and resolve a large range of complex, often non-deterministic, problems. It is a deliberate effort to explore the middle ground between quantitative research and computer science from an informed perspective. It seeks to demonstrate to practitioners the use of innovative up-to-the-minute enabling technologies and at the same time to provide computer scientists with a rich source of computational and representational challenges. Total cost including on-site accommodation in student halls, registration, proceedings and meals will be 220 pounds sterling. Special rates will be available for registered students. Publication outlets will include conference proceedings and journal special editions. Local Organising Team: Bob Abrahart, Bruce Carlisle, Cecilia MacLeod, Ben Holmes, Fakhar Khalid, Adrian Porter.
