In response to Stefania Edgecombe's query, if Italian has to be taught in this way then AS level in the first year is probably the best way as QCA claims that there are only 4 new grammar points from GCSE in the AS level examination. There are 31 weeks of teaching in Year 12. Work will need to be planned carefully. Unfortunately there probably won't be many people out there attempting this with whom to share the experience.
