Apologies for cross posting Stop Press!!! Latest Event!!!! Teaching Design Against Crime Event Collaboration between University of Salford and North West Arts Board Tuesday 4th April @ North West Arts Board, Bridge Street, Manchester, Evening workshop, 7.00 - 10.00pm. (Tickets @ stlg7.50 covers refreshments) The aim of this evening workshop, part of the Design Council's Design in Education Week (3 - 7 April 2000), is to identify how designers consider crime prevention during their work. We hope to bring together participants who will have a broad range of design-crime interests and understanding to discuss the issues of integrating crime prevention considerations and strategies within HE design courses. We intend to explore ways designers can contribute to effective incentives of all those involved in product development to take crime reduction into account. The evening will comprise presentations followed by break out sessions and will mix design-crime disciplines and levels of expertise regarding design against crime concepts. The workshop coincides with research on Teaching Design against Crime, a collaboration between the University of Salford and Sheffield Hallam University which is supported by the Design Council, DTI and the Home Office. This study seeks to investigate how to increase designers awareness to crime related aspects of design, and how to increase the motivation for key decision makers to incorporate these aspects into the design process.
