I am currently a final (third) year student at the University of Bristol
(UK), undertaking a BSc (hons) in the Physiology degree course. My
current research project is titled "The influence of fatiguing exercise
on EMG power spectral frequency in human muscles composed mainly of slow
or fast fibres", and is directed at three human muscles: tibialis
anterior, biceps brachii, and orbicularis occuli, and the route of
investigation is into the respective EMG properties of these muscles,
and whether the predominant fibre type is a major factor in determining
the fatigability of the muscles in question. This research project is
accompanied by two other marked reviews, with the following titles: "The
control of ventilation in exercise", and "Compare critically the roles
of local chemicals on control of skeletal muscle blood flow during
exercise".
I am expecting to graduate in July 2000, and as such, I am now seeking
advice on the best method of entering the field of sports physiology. I
would ideally desire to join a "consultancy company", specialising in
the physiological appraisal of sports persons, or even the general
public if they desire.
Therefore, I would be grateful if you or your colleagues could send me
any details of prospective employment or a suitable higher degree (MSc,
PhD etc). Alternatively, I would appreciate advice detailing other
possible contacts or companies/institutions to whom I could apply.
I greatly appreciate any assistance you render to me with regards my
short or long-term future employment. I have enclosed a copy of my CV,
in case it is of any benefit.
