A reminder of these two workshops- book soon to be sure of a place. **************************************************************************** LIBRARY RESOURCE SHARING & DISCOVERY: Catalogues for the 21st Century Two one-day workshops presented by the eLib Clump Projects Friday 3rd March at Goldsmiths College, New Cross, London OR Tuesday 11th April at the University of Glasgow Co-ordinated by UKOLN **************************************************************************** Aims ----------------- Two one-day workshops to disseminate information about Virtual Union Catalogues or 'clumps', and to follow up the event held on 22 March 1999 at the British Library, London. Both events have the same content, giving delegates the choice of the venue most convenient to them. The aim is to present delegates with an update on the progress made by the Projects, inform and discuss some of the technical developments carried out and to look to the Projects becoming services in the future. Built into the programme are periods for delegates to try some 'hands on' searches and also the opportunity to meet project staff to discuss all aspects of the Projects. Feedback on the work done by the Projects is encouraged - this is your chance to influence these services. Who should attend ? ------------------------------ The day is aimed at User Support, Reader Services and Subject Librarians, ILL and Systems Librarians, and Public Librarians, and will be very suited to both technical and non technical staff. Why should you come? ------------------------------- This is your chance to see the progress on resource discovery tools for users that are planning to become real services. The four projects involved have continued working together on a number of user and technical issues and are keen that as they approach becoming a service, they provide what the user needs. A DRAFT PROGRAMME IS AT <http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/events/elib-clumps-2000/> and also at the end of this message. Booking details and workshop fee ------------------------------------------------ The fee for the day is 65.00 sterling to include lunch and refreshments. Closing date for bookings is Friday 18th February for London and Tuesday 28th March for Glasgow Cancellations between date of booking and the closing date will incur a cancellation fee of 25.00 sterling There will be no refunds for cancellations received after the closing dates although a substitute delegate is acceptable. ************************************************************************** FULL DETAILS AND A BOOKING FORM ARE AVAILABLE AT <http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/events/elib-clumps-2000/ ************************************************************************** Or contact Joy Fraser (details below) if you have any queries about the workshop ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joy Fraser, Events Manager UK Office for Library and Information Networking University of Bath, Bath, BA2 7AY, UK Voice: +44 1225 826256 Fax: +44 1225 826838 [log in to unmask] http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/ukoln/staff/j.v.fraser/ Draft Programme 3rd March at Goldsmiths College 10.30 11.00 Registration and coffee.
