Subject: RE: Health Service Crisis

Colleagues
The NHS is in crisis and BAEM have totally lost the plot. The broad sheets
and the DoH are full of the ITU lack of beds. However the greatest problem
has been in A & E as we have no control and hence we bear the biggest brunt
of the crisis. No beds in the hospital and no ITU beds and so the patients
languish for days in A & E. We expect our leaders to represent us and serve
our needs. As a consultant the last 2 years have been the worst of my
professional career as the bed situation has deteriorated beyond the pail.
Sorry chaps but we have missed the boat. My own opinion is that our
speciality is probably being represented by too many academics but that is
another story.
