Dear Ingrid,
Monika Maron speaks of her red-haired aunt Marta in her
Familiengeschichte
Pawels Briefe ("die bleichhäutige, schwächliche Marta mit
den roten Haaren",
p. 57.) The author also describes how she cannot help but
think of her
grandfather Pawel as a red-haired man, even if she knows from
her mother
that his hair was in fact rather dark. She relates her image of
him first to
the reddish photographs she knows him from and secondly to the
old saying
that there was at least one red-haired person in every Jewish
family.
Best regards & good luck with the paper,
Elke
Gilson
