Arts & the Creative Industries 2. Sport, Tourism and Leisure I am pleased to invite UK higher and further education institutions to bid for funds to develop new subject hubs for the JISC-funded Resource Discovery Network (RDN). The RDN (http://www.rdn.ac.uk) provides access to over 23,000 high quality Internet resources for the UK learning, teaching and research communities. The RDN's data and services are provided through a series of subject catalogues (or "hubs") containing descriptions of high quality Internet sites, selected and described by specialists from within UK academia and affiliated organisations. Value-added services such as interactive web tutorials and alerting services are also provided to enable users to make more effective use of their time on the Internet. There are currently five subject hubs available through the RDN: Biome - health and life sciences (http://biome.ac.uk) EEVL - engineering, maths & computing (http://www.eevl.ac.uk) Humbul - humanities (http://www.humbul.ac.uk) PSIgate - physical sciences (http://www.psigate.ac.uk - under development) SOSIG - social sciences (http://www.sosig.ac.uk) The areas covered by this call for proposals will extend the RDN's subject scope to more fully address the range of subjects covered in HE and FE. The closing date for this call is 2 February 2001. The full call for proposals, further details on the RDN, appropriate contacts and guidelines for those preparing bids as well as the subject scope of the two hubs proposed in this call are available at: http://www.rdn.ac.uk/publications/calls If you have any questions regarding this call for proposals or any other aspect of the RDN, please do not hesitate to contact me.
