Millais Gallery Archive, Southampton Institute,

The Millais Gallery was opened in June 1996 to coincide with the opening of
an exhibition organised in association with Southampton City Art Gallery to
mark the centenary of Millais's death in August 1896. The Millais Gallery
aims to focus on the work of young artists, designers, makers and curators;
exhibitions of particular interest to the local and regional community;
student exhibitions drawn from the Institute's art, design and media
practice and theory courses; and historical/research-based exhibitions. The
archive available from VADS currently represents shows at the Millais from
1996 - 1999 and contributes to VADS focus in the area of contemporary art
and digital curatorship.
