Two Major Conference join forces for 2000 The Millennium Link Conference: The Rehabilitation of the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals and Association of Municipal Engineers Annual Conference: The Renaissance of Public Services Edinburgh International Conference Centre, 29 June - 1 July 2000 Introduction Two conferences have been brought together which will demonstrate the full range of challenges and opportunities currently facing the engineer. The AME Conference will consider the Renaissance of Public Services with papers addressing the issues pertinent to the municipal engineer, best value, funding and economic regeneration, integrate transport and transport interchanges, street design and waste management. The Millennium Link programme will consider the many aspects of this important and innovative project, the Regeneration of the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals. Presentations will be given by the key figures involved and will focus on the engineering, socio-economic impact and the environmental considerations. The American Society of Civil Engineers will be contributing a complementary suite of papers on US canal and waterway technology adding an international flavour to the programme.
