Members of this discussion list may possibly be interested in the following resource which has become available at the UK National Digital Archive of Datasets (NDAD). NDAD (http://ndad.ulcc.ac.uk/) is operated by the University of London Computer Centre on behalf of the UK Public Record Office (http://www.pro.gov.uk/), and acts to preserve electronic data from UK government departments and agencies. The resource in question is the Internal Drainage Board Database produced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF). The Database contains data from annual returns submitted to MAFF by internal drainage boards (IDBs) in England. One dataset - comprising data from the annual returns for 1994/95 - is currently available via the NDAD web site, and another dataset (covering 1995/96) will be available shortly. The data can be browsed after an on-line registration procedure (http://ndad.ulcc.ac.uk/intro/regform.htm). There is no charge for the service. The datasets derived from the Internal Drainage Board Database primarily contain financial data on IDBs, though there is also data relating to sites of special scientific interest in IDB districts. Further information about the Internal Drainage Board Database is provided by the catalogues of the database on the NDAD web site: see http://ndad.ulcc.ac.uk/datasets/9/series.htm Any questions relating to the Database would be welcome.
