thanks for the many notes giving the advice that this is not an appropriate
message to forward - it all helps making such decisions in the future.
My own experience of British politics is that it is very different here - we
find that informing the legislature that there is a general public awareness
at an international level is fairly effective - though personal letters are
the most effective, anything that helps to rmind them of a their very public
image on the international stage helps get the message across. Witness the
Section 28 repeal process that is taking place at the moment - the very
public nature of the pledge made by the Scottish parliamentary groups has
made it virtually impossible for them to try and shelve it, and if nothing
else it is costing the opponents of the repeal spend lots and lots of money
that they hopefully won't have to spend the next time they are trying to
battle agains glbt rights.
