Jane,
I would assume that anything on the order of 1% for "trans" must
necessarily be referring to "trans-anything" or the like, and not some
variant of "transsexual" (which should be on the order of .01%).
("on the order of" means, as I use it, "within a factor of 10 or 1/10")
