If you have already submitted a proposal, you will be contacted shortly after the submission deadline. If you have a submission you would like to make, remember the official deadline is 11/15/00. This deadline has been extended to 11/20/00. ] True Spirit Conference (TSC) 2001 - a conference celebrating diversity and unity within the FTM+/butch/masculine/SOFFA (Significant Others, Family, Friends and Allies) community(ies) - will take place Friday evening, February 16 through Monday afternoon, February 19, 2001 at the Washington Plaza Hotel - Washington, DC. Each year TSC has grown more and more inclusive. Our goal is to offer a stimulating conference for gender diverse people and SOFFAs that meets the needs of the attendees. We want to hear from you about what topics would be of interest to you and what information would be of greatest benefit to you and our gender diverse community. Please indicate where you would like to volunteer, and be sure to include any specific workshop proposals which you may have in mind. A wide range of workshops, panels, caucuses and keynote speakers will cover many key areas. In past years, such areas included: health and wellness; identities (and how they intersect with other aspects of our lives - race, age, priviledge, ability, education, employment, etc.); FTM+/SOFFA 101 - Basics; SOFFA issues; legal, political and activism topics; "out" in the world; genderqueer and gender diveristy that isn't neatly defined; relationships; sexuality; spirituality; and much more. Each night will culminate in entertainment and keynote speeches from trans+ people and SOFFAs. Workshop/panel/caucus proposals will be accepted through November 15, 2000. Proposals should include a paragraph (or more) description of the workshop, a tentative workshop title, a list of presenters (or if you would like to present solo), and any Audio-Visual or equipment needs. Formalized proposals, outlining the workshop's theme, main points, and a proposed title are most useful; however, general ideas are also welcome. [If you have workshop ideas but do not wish to facilitate or if you need other panelists, please submit your proposal and panelists will be screened and obtained if your proposal is accepted.] A sample workshop proposal form is included at the end of this email. Feel free to use it if it makes the process of submission easier for you. It is not required. TSC is a conference for the people, by the people, of the people. In order to offer programming that best meets your needs, please contribute your thoughts and ideas about programming, workshops, lectures, caucuses, speakers and panelists that are of interest to you. Email your workshop proposal(s) or informal suggestions for programming to michael munson at [log in to unmask] Thank you - in advance - for your participation in creating the programming for TSC2001!
