Publication : The Annals of Medical Entomology

Literature on arthropods and arthropod borne diseases is in great demand, but is often not readily available. For solving the problem of obtaining copies of articles one desires, this Museum is established with an intention to provide a central library and information dissemination service available to workers worldwide.

This is an informal cooperative effort of authors and agencies in the chosen field. The Museum is a non-profit, lacks the financial resources to purchase many journals and books. It is proposed to obtain reprints from workers in all parts of the world and build a huge reference library. The success of this much needed service is dependent on the voluntary cooperation of all who publish in this field. Contributors are asked to submit a set of reprints or copies of reprints of all papers, monographs or books that they have authored. Complete lists of all an author's publications should be included with the reprints they send. If possible, material should be sent via air mail and, in any case, reprint lists should be sent via air mail or e-mail to expedite data compilation.

Museum Services : Bibliography : A complete bibliography of all publications in the Museum listed by author and subject will be maintained and updated as new material is received. Photocopies could be made for a nominal fee.

Mailing List : A list of current addresses of contributing workers will also be available.

E-mail Chain of Medical Entomologists : A chain of atleast 5000 medical entomologists (ME) of the world is going to be formed. A begining has been made with 20 known ME. Each one of these are requested to send the name and e-mail addresses of atleast 20 ME (10 of their country and 10 of foreign). Each one of these lists will be requested in turn to send their lists who will be requested in each succession of the lists till a chain of 5000+ is not formed. The complete list may be available to each and every member of the chain. This will form a strong data base for the Museum, its services and publications. It is expected all ME will enthusiatically participate in this task. Whereas all other professionals have a strong forum for their expression however, the ME lack such a base for their welfare.

Photoduplication : Copies of available papers will be supplied at nominal cost.

Preservation of Author's Memory : The biography along with the publication, photographs, writings and personal items of notable scientists will be preserved as memory.

Every author gets some free reprints of all of his or her publication. If he or she spares one reprint each, not only this Museum will come into existence, but also the author will take one step towards preservation of his or her work for ever in addition to a proper use and appreciation of his or her work by a needful. This Museum is being created from the material a part of which is generally distributed without any purpose or in many cases which is not at all distributed to any one. It is a project created from the left over materials gathered to serve a great purpose. Therefore, please plan on contributing as soon as possible in order to expedite this very needed service as no one library can supply the vast amount of copies required. Since the establishment of this Museum (1992) already about 10,000 reprints have been received from authors all over the world.

This is a Museum of the authors, by the authors and for the authors. It is an example of leftover material management. The reprints almost forms a leftover material and I am trying to manage it for a better use. I hope all authors cooperate with me in this task.

Journal Publication : We also publish a half yearly refereed journal since 1992 titled as The Annals of Medical Entomology. It is entering the 10th year of publication. It is a refereed journal and is headed by a strong editorial board drawn from world over. It publishes main articles, review articles, research notes and book reviews. The subject of the paper submitted to the Annals should have a direct or indirect bearing with those arthropods which transmit pathogens or toxins either to man or animals.

Book Reviews: Authorship of book reviews is normally by invitation. Suggestions of books for review, and submittal of volumes by publishers solicited.

Page Charges: Page charges are currently $ 20.00 (Twenty U.S. Dollars) per full printed page. For Indian authors the page charges shall be Rs. 325.00 per page. Page and reprint charges are billed before publication.

Reprints: Ten free reprints without covers are supplied per article. Charges for additional reprints extra. They may be ordered when the proof is returned.

Annual Subscription: $8.00 (US) for two issues by airmail. A few copies available. Sample issue on request.

The manuscript, annual subscription and the correspondence relating to contributions should be addressed to: The Chief Editor, The Annals of Medical Entomology, Post Box No. 62, G.P.O., Raipur (M.P.) 492001, India.
