Designing your writing, writing your design: developing the writing
skills of art and design students
Workshop led by Margo Blythman and Susan Orr
25th October 2000
This event is designed for academic staff who are involved in
developing
the writing skills of art and design students. The session works from
the
position that there are particular issues in teaching writing skills
to art
and design students in addition to general academic writing
concerns. The
session aims to identify what these issues are and offer ideas on how
to
address them both at individual student and organisational level. We
will
also look at the needs of students with specific needs such as
dyslexia but
this is not primarily a session on supporting dyslexic students.
Margo Blythman and Susan Orr are the teaching and learning
co-ordinators in
LCP and the London College of Fashion respectively. They have
wide
experience in teaching writing development and in setting up study
support
units in higher education.
