UNIVERSITY OF HAMBURG COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE LABORATORY,
DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY

RESEARCH SCIENTIST / METHODOLOGY

Applications are invited for a position in the Cognitive Neuroscience
Laboratory (head: Dr. C. Buechel) at the Department of Neurology,
Hamburg University. The newly formed Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory
is supported by major research grants from Volkswagen-Stiftung and the
EU.
We use ERP, fMRI and TMS to study mechanisms of associative learning and
plasticity in humans. In particular, functional integration of brain
regions during associative learning and attentional processing will be
the major research topic. EEG/MEG data will add valuable temporal
information to the analysis of effective connectivity of fMRI data and
will be combined with data on anatomical connectivity obtained through
diffusion tensor imaging (DTI).

The post-holder will join a multidisciplinary team (psychologists,
linguists, IT, physicists, physicians) and will be responsibile for the
implementation (C/C++) and development and of advanced brain
segmentation algorithms including lesioned brains needed for advanced
DTI, fMRI, MEG and ERP studies. C/C++ as a native language is crucial.
The postholder should also be fluent in MatLab. If the applicant does
not hold a PhD degree, it is possible to extend this project to a full 3
year PhD program. Applicants should also have an interest in the
cognitive neurosciences.
Salary will be according to BAT IIa.

Applications including the names of two referees should be sent to Dr.
Christian Buechel, Neurologische Klinik, Haus B,
Universitaets-Krankenhaus Eppendorf, Martinistr. 52,
D-20246 Hamburg, Germany.

Further information about the post can be obtained from Dr. C. Buechel,
Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory (email: [log in to unmask]).
