Nuclear waste: the way forward A Science & Public Affairs Forum in association with the Institute of Physics 23 August, 6.30pm Institute of Physics, 76 Portland Place, London W1N 3DH Nuclear waste has been an issue ever since nuclear power became a reality, but the long-term questions have yet to be resolved. What is clear is that the way forward can only be determined by wide-ranging discussion and consultation. Last year a consensus conference considered the radioactive waste issue. This forum will advance the debate and maintain the momentum for action. Chairing will Clive Cookson of the Financial Times. Among the speakers will be Lord Tombs, who chaired last yearıs House of Lords Science & Technology Inquiry into radioactive waste, and Jonathan Selwyn, Director of the UK Centre for Economic and Environmental Development, which organised last yearıs consensus conference on radioactive waste.
