**REMINDER** National Association for Research in Science Teaching CALL FOR PROPOSALS DUE 15 August 2000 NARST Annual Meeting, St. Louis, Missouri, March 25-28, 2001 Guidelines and instructions for submission are available at < and <. The Informal Learning Strand (Strand 9) of NARST focuses on science learning and teaching in out-of-school contexts, such as science centers, museums, zoos, aquaria, nature centers, parks, community centers, and the home. The St. Louis conference is shaping up to be an exciting meeting for Strand 9. In addition to the opportunity to work with the numerous informal science education institutions in the city, NARST 2001 will overlap with the National Science Teachers Association conference - so topics relevant to informal learning and science teaching are particularly encouraged. The theme for the conference this year is Liberating Minds Through Disciplined Inquiry; Liberating Inquiry Through Disciplined Minds. Potential contributors are encouraged to consider how their papers or sessions embody the theme and to make a special effort to address the theme in their presentations and discussions. We would like the 2001 Annual Meeting to provide greater opportunities for interaction between presenters and audience members. Thus, contributors are also encouraged to utilize interactive formats in their sessions.
