National Association for Research in Science Teaching
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
DUE 15 August 2000
NARST Annual Meeting, St. Louis, Missouri, March 25-28, 2001
Guidelines and instructions for submission are available at
< and <.
The Informal Learning Strand (Strand 9) of NARST focuses on science
learning and teaching in out-of-school contexts, such as science
centers, museums, zoos, aquaria, nature centers, parks, community
centers, and the home. The St. Louis conference is shaping up to be an
exciting meeting for Strand 9. In addition to the opportunity to work
with the numerous informal science education institutions in the city,
NARST 2001 will overlap with the National Science Teachers Association
conference - so topics relevant to informal learning and science
teaching are particularly encouraged.
The theme for the conference this year is Liberating Minds Through
Disciplined Inquiry; Liberating Inquiry Through Disciplined Minds.
Potential contributors are encouraged to consider how their papers or
sessions embody the theme and to make a special effort to address the
theme in their presentations and discussions. We would like the 2001
Annual Meeting to provide greater opportunities for interaction between
presenters and audience members. Thus, contributors are also encouraged
to utilize interactive formats in their sessions.
