Dear Robin,

if there is one poetess I would be flattered to be compared to, she is
Gaspara Stampa.  What an amazing biography!
: your suggestions reveal your excellent insight into Italian Literature.
I do not know of any other edition of her poems translated into Englsih.
But I am myself a translator into Italian of poetry (Geoffrey Hill, RS Thomas, Sylvia Plath,
Seamus Heaney, Tom Paulin, and many others (also included in an anthology I edited with Blake Morrison).

Why don't you try to send me here the Italian text and the translation of a poems by Gaspara Stampa you particularly like and I will try to re-translate it for you.

Regards,

EP
