Hi Douglas,

>what a glory the Schwerner books are because I have them, but many of my
colleagues dont even know he exists <

This may be a very fruitful thread -- if folk on the list were to post
a single recommendation of a poet they have 'found' and who may
not be generally well-known, as a means of spreading the word(s)
and widening the horizons.

Perhaps also including an example of their work . . . . on this point
though, can someone clarify for me what the position is with regard
to copyright and e-posting? Is it OK?

Not having heard of Schwerner I would be curious to know more . . .

My own recommendation would be the US poet Denis Johnson,
primarily his volume 'The Incognito Lounge' (Carnegie Mellon
University Press, ISBN 0887481760) -- which is also contained
in his collected-to-date, 'The Throne of the Third Heaven of the
Nations Millenium General Assembly' (Harper Perennial, 1995,
ISBN 0060171804).

Example to follow if it's cushty . . . .

Andy
