Just to make it clear: the paradigm change is from Self to Other.
This is probably why I couldnt cope with John Tranter's Late Night Radio
,
although I am well aware that he can write a good poem. Would this be
a postmodern strain in poetry which I find alien, because of the
lack of the personable Ego in the poem.

I should say that I wrote very little ion the ten years after I
wrote my New Poems, but when I returned to writing my books I
very much wanted to document Self. I think this was because I
had been through schizophrenic breakdowns and had become aware
of how important it is to hang onto the Self in a sea of conflicting
voices. Necessary for survival. So, for me, the Ego is overimportant
and it might be unwise for me to cast it away. But you can cast it
away when writing poetry. And then it means nothing in the long run.
