Telling a story is all I do in poetry. I feel the rest is just extravagance. When I have nothing to say I realise I am better keeping silent. I am inwards-looking when I write, but when I do I usually have a lot to write about. Anoyher negative. I find that writing is best when you are talking to somebody, which is why love is so important to me.
