The Mining Heritage Society of Ireland is convening a meeting on Nov. 4 - 5, in Bunmahon, Co. Waterford, Ireland to present the results of an archaeo-geophysical survey of the Tankardstown Engine House complex.  This is the first time that such a survey has been undertaken on a 19th Century mine site in Ireland.  The survey, including GPR, magnetics and IP, was conducted earlier this year by Kevin Barton, University College, Galway, to assist interpretation of the site prior to commencing conservation work on the buildings.  The programme will include presentations by Kevin Barton, Ken Brown and Ian Forbes, and will include a site visit.

MHSI members have already been notified of this meeting, but if any non-members are interested in attending, and require extra information, please contact myself, John Morris, off line, at: [log in to unmask]
