There seems to be a surge of interest in these mines/quarries and all this discussion may well prompt people to visit the sites. Please ensure that you get the land owners permission as most, if not all, entrances and stone dressing floors are on private land. It is some years since I spent time on these sites but at that time some of the owners were sensitive to folk wandering about without permision, particularly the owner of Stags Fell Quarries above Simonstone. Please remember to follow the NAMHO code. One day "mine baggers" can loose access for the rest of us. Rod
