Apropos the Teague family and coal mining
- there was a Teague's Colliery on Backwell Common, south east of Nailsea,
which was reported as 'closed many years ago' in 1858. 'The Backwell veins
worked by Mr Teague' are also mentioned in an early 19th century mineral
surveyor's report for the promotors of a branch canal to Nailsea from the
proposed Bristol-Taunton Canal. Might be a link with the Coleford and Cromhall
Teagues referred to in David Hardwick's posting of 17.03.00 (extract follows for
reference)

The name Teague appears on documents relating to Cromhall
colliery between
1815 & 1819.
Is there any link between the
names?
