There is an article 'A Gin Wheel in S.E. Northumberland' in Bulletin 14 of The North East Industrial Archaeology Society (1971) which includes drawings of a 'four horse-driven threshing plant' which might be of help. For mining gins there are descriptions and sketches of a cog and rung gin and a whim gin in : 'The Archaeology of the Coal Trade' by T. J.
