Whilst talking about blasting and nitroglycerine. In the good old days when pits and quarries closed for the annual weeks holiday. Just before the holiday, shotfirers would cut a half inch piece of explosive off a stick and smuggle it home. They would then tuck it into their inner hat band whilst they were away. The reason - simple - the first time you handle nitroglycerine, you end up with the mother of all headaches as the nitro dilates the blood vessels but after a while you become desensitized to it.
