Some time ago I requested information from other libraries about inputting multiple or single links for journals available online and what criteria was used for selection. Thank you to those who replied. Here is a summary of the results I received (apologies for the delay in summarising these) I had 12 replies - 8 from UK universities and 3 from overseas. Use of multiple links seemed to slightly outweigh single links. The arguments for multiple links being that different services cover different date periods, different access requirement(IP address / password) and different formats. The arguments for single links being that multiple links were confusing to the reader. Criteria included IP over password, service which gave most content. Exceptions would be made were it was seen necessary. 2 libraries linked indirectly from their catalogue through to listings on their local web pages. One favouring single links the other multiple links.
