Dear network member As the last hours flicker by of a Friday afternoon, and you have all your chores done (of course!), now you may pause for thought. Those of you who use micro-econometric data in their industrial economics research (and many others as well) will have time to read about, and indeed to be gratified to hear of, the awards this year being made to James Heckman and Daniel McFadden. Another network (Social Science Research) has put out this notice: In the field of micro-econometrics, each of the laureates has developed theory and methods that are widely used in the statistical analysis of individual and household behavior, within economics as well as other social sciences. Citation of the Academy: "to James Heckman for his development of theory and methods for analyzing selective samples and to Daniel McFadden for his development of theory and methods for analyzing discrete choice."
