I think that ethics are a vital aspect of culture that need exploring. Especially today when scientific discoveries outrace the time we have to contemplate their impact. More anecdotally, I talk to many people who hunger for meaning but have no idea where to find it. Yet every way of meaning making will involve ethical decisions.
