Hello, G-R Listers, It's so nice to find a list like this. I'll join in with a note of introduction. Academics and Religion. I have a B.A. in Religious Studies from Lawrence University (Wisconsin, USA) and a M.A. in Divinity from the University of Chicago where I worked generally in "religion and the human sciences." I'm currently working on a Ph.D. in the History of Consciousness at University of California/Santa Cruz. The dissertation is far from being thought out as I'm still in class taking mode ... learning all about political economy and post-structuralism at the moment, but I'm allegedly going to write about "women's narratives of religious conversion." My life and religion. Grew up in a Fundamentalist community in Montana - Dutch Calvinists - but never made a "profession of faith." I do community organizing work with an interfaith group I helped found called The Center for Community Values (CCV) www.the-ccv.org I don't hold an official membership in any specific religion. Miscellaneous. I work as a market researcher for a tech PR firm in Silicon Valley ... used to be a computer programmer ... ah, the religion of technology. :-) And I'm queer. Shan, your online stuff sounds wonderful. Is it open to folks all over the Internet or does one have to be affiliated with a specific school? I'd love to hear more details. peace and justice, Karen ______________________________________________________________________ Karen deVries Ph.D. Candidate History of Consciousness Board Oakes 307 UC/Santa Cruz [log in to unmask] (831) 469-3665 For every complex problem there is an easy answer, and it is wrong.
