Donor funding is to be provided for the fixed-period employment of a
suitably qualified, dynamic and experienced librarian / archivist who will
develop an information and documentation facility for the Forced Migration
Studies Programme (Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences).

LIBRARIAN / ARCHIVIST
(Based in Cataloguing, Wartenweiler Library)

Available: As soon as possible - for 6 months.

Hours: 08:00 to 16:30 Monday to Friday.

Qualifications: Postgraduate library qualification or B Bibl degree.
Background in humanities and social sciences an advantage.
Experience & Skills:  Minimum 3 - 4 year's relevant professional experience
especially cataloguing (LC), information retrieval and reference work.
Knowledge of computerised library systems and databases eg. Internet and CD
Roms.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Confident,
self-motivated with good initiative.
Transport: Own transport required for Gauteng area.
Duties: Reports to the Head: Cataloguing.  Actively collects and organises
material on refugees and forced migration.  Material is in print and
electronic format from various sources.
Consults and works with staff from similar local and international
programmes.  Indexing and cataloguing of the collection onto a database for
retrieval through the
University's library catalogue.

Salary: Determined according to qualifications and relevant experience.
Medical Aid and generous leave. Grade 9
