Dear film-philosophers,
Just a short note to let you know that Mailbase will be changing
hands over the weekend (mail sent may be delayed by a day or so).
Following a recent open procurement, the body which funds the
provision of information
systems for the UK higher and further education and research
community has awarded the contract to provide the National Academic
Mailing List Service to the Council for the Central Laboratories of
the Research Councils (CCLRC) with effect from 27 November 2000. The
name Mailbase will be retained by the University of Newcastle, the
current Mailbase service provider, so the new service from CCLRC will
have a new name.
This new service will be based upon the well known LISTSERV software.
This will result in a change of name, and changes to the user
interface. Details of the differences and the transition arrangements
will be made available from next week onwards. But don't worry too
much, as emails sent to Mailbase after the transition date will be
forwarded automatically for quite a while, so you will have time to
adjust to the change.
*On Monday I shall let you all know the new addresses to send posts
and commands.*
Ed.
